Akira Yamaoka Jumps To Grasshopper Manufacture
Famed game composer Akira Yamaoka, the man responsible for the classic sound of the Silent Hill franchise, abruptly left Konami in 2009. I was very saddened when I first heard the news, as I still listen to his amazing work on the Silent Hill soundtracks on a regular basis. Now, in a move that seems like it fell out of my dreams, 1up.com is reporting that Akira Yamaoka has now officially joined Grasshopper Manufacture, home of the unique game director Suda51 and cult classics Killer7 and No More Heroes.
His first work with the company? It’s rumored to be soundtrack to the mysterious new IP that Grasshopper and Platinum Games’ Shinji Mikami are developing under the Electronic Arts “EA Partners” program, and that he may move on to developing his own titles in the future. I for one can’t wait to see what they create together.

Sounds like they’re starting up a developer super group, except it’s unlikey to suck like band super groups.
Well Grasshopper does bill its self as a Video Game Band. I wonder who gets stuck on bass?
