Gaming Headlines: 2/23/10

WB spent their money well by buying Arkham Asylum 2. Though the story I’m most passionate about is Sega’s handling of the Yakuza 3 port. I really wish I didn’t have to be frustrated by a US Yakuza release, but I suppose I should be used to it by now. If you find any of these stories interesting, let me know what you think in our comments section

  1. Warner Bros. has snatched up Arkham Asylum 1 & 2 developer Rocksteady. (Destructoid)
  2. Batman: The Brave and Bold is a great throwback take on Batman and I’ve enjoyed every episode (particularly the musical one). Let’s hope that the property is done justice in the newly announced Batman: The Brave and Bold game coming to Wii and DS this fall! (Destructoid)
  3. Other than releasing it up against FFXIII, SEGA hadn’t really made any mistakes with their handling of Yakuza 3. That’s changed now though, as they have told IGN that they cut out Hostess Clubs and the arcade quiz game Answer X Answer. I still encourage everyone to buy the game, but I wish SEGA would patch these missing elements back into the game . (IGN)
  4. Team 17 has announced on their Twitter that they’re making a new 2D Worms for PC, called Worms Reloaded. No word yet if the title will be ported to other systems. (Twitter)
  5. A trailer for Platinum Games’ latest title Infinite Space has been released. I’ve put it at the bottom of this post for your viewing pleasure!
  6. Square-Enix has applied for the trademark Voice Fantasy in Europe. There’s no rumor as to what the game would be, but I’m hoping it’ll be an Karaoke RPG. (Magic Box)
  7. Street Fighter IV iPhone will feature the characters Able, Blanka, Chun-Li, Dalsim, Guile, Ken, M. Bison & Ryu. The touch fighter will be $9.99 and released next month. (GamePro)
  8. Screenshots have leaked of Sonic 4 and it looks like old school Robotnik battles will definitely make a return. I’ve put one of the screens at the bottom of the post, but there are more on (Sonic Retro)
  9. Rebellion is pleased with how Aliens vs Predator has been received and is looking into continued support for the title as well as a sequel. (develop)
  10. The internet, UFC and video games have been blamed for the predominately chick flick driven theater attendance of the last few months. (EDGE)
  11. Zeno Clash is now available at retailers for PC players who didn’t want to download it. The game is still scheduled for XBLA next month, for non-PC gamers. (Destructoid)

Acquiring Rocksteady was a smart move. They made my personal Game of the Year last year in Arkham Asylum, and I’m looking forward to more quality Batman games from them. Also, as much as I’m looking forward to Yakuza 3, I hate to see any game lose content during localization.
