Fan Art – Deadly Premonition

Fan Art – Deadly Premonition

Deadly Premonition for the Xbox 360 from Ignition Entertainment and Access Games is destined for legendary cult status. Released as a $20 budget title, Deadly Premonition feels like a playable Troma film – no budget and many technical weaknesses, but so full to the brim with ridiculous madness that you can’t possibly resist its charms. I was consistently surprised by the in-depth discussions about classic horror cinema your main character, Agent Francis York Morgan, would have with his imaginary friend Zach when driving to new locations, not to mention the wacky and somewhat inappropriate for a horror game kazoo music you hear from time to time. I can never really tell if the game is trying to be an intentional spoof of survival horror games, or if its genius is accidental. It’s hard to argue with a game that rewards you for remembering to shave your facial hair, which grows in real-time, however.

When watching Razlo play his copy that he purchased with loose change from his car, I was inspired to draw some fan art after a scene where Agent Morgan, while discussing the facts surrounding a victim of a horrible murder with the local police, engages into a non sequitur about biscuits.

Enjoy!

Update! SWERY, the director of Deadly Premonition, has shown his approval of the above drawing on his twitter account!

@Gillionaire That’s great art for me. Thanks. I tweeted that picture maybe one month ago already.

Indeed, SWERY did retweet the original post from the official Game Yay Fun Twitter account several weeks ago. Glad to see that the man responsible for the biggest gaming cult phenomenon of 2010 checks out our site!

I love games. I want to share my love of games with all of you. I worked on the gaming webcomic Entertain Dome with Razlo for 5 years and now I'm back at gameyayfun.com to help spread the joy I get from video games on the internet once again. I love to draw and you can see my work at http://gil-ed.deviantart.com/
