Deadly Premonition: Sinner’s Sandwich Tasting

Harry Stewart is a rich eccentric who sits in a wheelchair and always wears a gas mask in this year’s amazingly weird Xbox 360 game: Deadly Premonition. Some people though may find his culinary tastes as odd as the rest of his character. When Harry goes to the A & G Diner, he loves to order a “Sinner’s Sandwich”. What dish could be so evil to garner such a name?

Sinner’s Sandwich Recipe:

2 Slices of bread

Sliced turkey breast or turkey

Strawberry Jam

Cereal

Yes, it sounds like madness. Which is exactly why when I saw it in the game, I knew, just like Agent York that I had to try it for myself.

.As you can see, this was a potentially daunting tasteventure. Either side of the sandwich looks great, but would they be good together?

But Gil and I knew that once the sandwich was made, there was no turning back! So how did it taste? Honestly it was pretty damn delicious. We had a few virgin Sinner Sandwich fumbles though that we’d avoid when making the sandwich again. First of all, I would recommend using thick slices of turkey breast instead of deli meat turkey. Secondly, we only had mesquite flavor deli turkey breast in my house. I probably don’t need to explain why barbecue flavor and strawberry jam aren’t the ideal combination. The cereal we picked was great though! We used Honey Bunches of Oats and while we stayed away from the large slices of almonds, the crunch of the flakes and nut cluster really added to the complexity of the sandwich.

All and all, I’d say that like Deadly Premonition itself, the Sinner’s Sandwich is a complex experience that won’t be for everyone. But for those brave enough to try both, they may find a new favorite!
